Mechanical engineering, transport and industry are the foundation of Ukraine’s recovery, its defense capability and future growth. It is thanks to you – engineers, manufacturers, managers, workers and entrepreneurs – that the country is moving forward even in the most difficult conditions.

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a resolution to launch a pilot project in the defense-industrial complex, which is based on the “Design and Build” principle. According to the department, the new solution will allow for a much faster deployment of redundant production capacities at one of the key enterprises of the Ukrainian defense industry. After successful testing of the experimental mechanisms, it can be extended to other areas of the defense industry. Currently, legislation requires several consecutive stages to be completed — from the project to the commissioning of the facility. The next stage cannot begin without the completion of the previous one, which significantly slows down the creation of new production facilities.

Currently, more than 25 foreign high-tech companies are at various stages of localization in Ukraine as part of the Build in Ukraine initiative. Among the companies that are already operating or planning to expand their activities in our country are a number of leading international partners. In particular, the British BAE Systems, together with Ukraine, produces and maintains L119 howitzers, the German Rheinmetall creates repair and production hubs for armored vehicles, the Swiss SAAB has concluded agreements on the joint production of air defense systems, and the American Northrop Grumman has agreed to manufacture ammunition at Ukrainian facilities.

Ukrzaliznytsia will receive 10 modern battery-powered shunting tractors thanks to cooperation with international financial organizations. They were purchased as part of the implementation of the joint reconstruction and development project “Emergency Support for Ukrainian Railways” with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The French defense and aerospace industry group GICAT has officially opened its representative office in Kyiv. According to a GICAT press release available to Ukrinform, this is the first foreign defense industry association to establish a presence in Ukraine

The Ministry of Economy has expanded the list of domestic machinery and equipment, buyers of which can receive 15% compensation for its cost (excluding VAT).
